CAUGHT BETWEEN THE WHIRLPOOL OF THE FAILED STATE OF SOMALIA AND PIRACY: THE SECURITY CHALLENGE FACING THE HORN OF AFRICA

One of the threatening and devastating security dilemma, which truncates disturbs global peace security, is transnational criminal acts sea piracy. Thus, international water ways have seen flow business, persons, ships for both commercial mobility reasons, perturbed by attacks from pirates. This has manifested mostly in Horn Africa’s Somalia coast off Gulf Aden, indian ocean leading to kidnappings, hijackings, arms trade proliferation etc. The study adopts content analysis as its methodology. Data were retrieved mainly secondary sources (textbooks, journal publications, magazines etc). While failed state securitization Theory explored buttress work.
